
Dr. James M. Conti
Dr. James M. Conti is the founder of HELPsychology.com. He received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, MA. His clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship were completed at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, in Miami, Florida. Here he specialized in both adult and pediatric psychology, with an emphasis in behavioral medicine (treating the psychological conditions of medically ill patients). His Masters Degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University where he received the Department of Counseling Foundation Graduate Scholarship Award and was the recipient of the Graduate School’s Outstanding Graduate Award (GPA 4.0). He earned his B.S. degree in Management/Marketing from Purdue University. Dr. Conti is a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Certified Advanced Imago Relationship Therapist, Certified Imago Workshop Presenter, Certified Addiction Counselor, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Certified e-Therapist for online counseling.
Dr. Conti is skilled in working with clients experiencing most psychological/emotional issues as well as with people dealing with every day problems. He is both an adult and child psychologist. As a relationship specialist he is skilled in treating families and couples in traditional and non-traditional relationships, using Imago Relationship Therapy. He is an expert in behavioral medicine where he works with individuals facing medical illnesses. Additionally, he is an Employee Assistance Professional, working both with company employees and management on various personal and organizational issues. He has been an invited speaker on many topics including but not limited to: motivation for change, counseling over the internet (e-therapy), spirituality and prayer research, depression, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, bereavement, teamwork, and the psychological basis of social and cultural diversity. In addition, Dr. Conti is skilled and experienced in providing Critical Incident Stress Management at crisis scenes.
Dr. Conti enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to movies, exercising, the beach, teaching, and being funny. People say that he is approachable, easy to communicate with, and down to earth.
